FAQ FAQ
  1. Why should I get tested even when I feel healthy?
Symptoms of most diseases appear later than when the disease actually strikes you. It is important therefore to have an early detection so that condition can be reversed for betterment. Tests can also help and guide us to monitor the normalcy of the total health.
  2. Is it essential to see my doctor before being tested?
Reference from a physician is not always necessary for deciding on a test. You can yourself decide to take the responsibility of your own health. Only it should be done from labs that are CLIA- certified and regulated by governmental agencies.
  3. Is it essential to get and appointment?
Most Patient Service Centers do not require appointments. It depends on the kind of test selected. This is because some tests require fasting.
  4. Is fasting required before blood is drawn?
Fasting is required in few of the tests like Glucose, Cholesterol, and Triglycerides. You have to avoid food and any kind of liquid during these tests though water and black coffee is permitted.
  5. Can I view the results online?
Results of most tests can be expected within a time frame of 28 to 48 hrs. Only tests which require special labs like tests on hair, saliva, urine and stool require a week or so time. Results are usually mailed and sometimes, if requested, hard copy can also be sent to home address.
The results of the tests are e- mailed to you if you provide us with your e –mail address while placing the order. This is done for the customer’s beneficence so that they can forward it to their physician. Also the results are then available within 28 to 48hrs.
The results of all the tests are confidential and not even released to the insurance company. This is only done when a signed HIPAA release is received by the lab from the customer.
  6. Will the results be understandable to me?
The customer can always understand the results. More so, because the normal ranges are indicated for reference. Also a detailed explanation is provided in most of the websites with resources for understanding the lab results.
  7. Are the results reliable?
The results are quite reliable because the labs used for the tests are national laboratories that are fully accredited, licensed Medical Reference Labs. All these labs are used by the physicians also.
  8. Can my doctor receive a copy of the results?
All the results are sent directly and confidentially to the customer. Although it is recommended that you take the advice of your physician also. If any third party is to receive the results then a HIPAA release is to be signed and sent through fax or mail.
  9. What needs to be done if the results are abnormal?
Abnormalities should only be considered as a warning and the results are to be discussed with the doctor. This is required for proper diagnosis of any abnormal results.
  10. Who am I suppose to contact if the results are abnormal?
You can discuss questions with your doctor or can call or write to the concerned authorities for general questions on the results.
  11. Does insurance covers this?
Only CPT codes can be provided so that customer can file for reimbursement from insurance. The authorities do not file for insurance claims. The insurance company is to be contacted as some provide you with “wellness” plan while others with “prevention” plans.
  12. Is it covered by the Medicare?
You are reimbursed by the Medicare only when the patients have a Medicare number of a physician who ordered it and a diagnostic code accepted by the Medicare. Medicare also only reimburses the laboratory.
  13. What do you mean by patient service center?
Only CLIA –certified Medical Reference Laboratories are used with patient service centers. If there are no facilities close to your home then special arrangements are made to draw blood from place where you work or live.
  14. Are there any locations near my place?
There are Patient Service Centers throughout United States for every laboratory that is certified. The centers have licensed Phlebotomists who draw blood and also these centers or facilities are referred by doctors.
  15. What procedure is followed during testing?
After the order is placed through phone fax or online, arrangements are made to draw blood by a certified phlebotomist from Patient Service Centers close to your home or work place. The results are then received by the office and e-mailed to customer within 28 to 48 hrs.
  16. Can I order online?
Order can be placed online through secure order form that is always in encrypted code. Secure Sockets Layer technology is used to protect the customer’s credit card information. It is not only the best technology available but also industry standard. The credit card information is received in an encrypted form and can only be decoded by the facilities’ computer.
  17. Can I cancel my order?
An order can be cancelled after it is being processed but it should be before blood is drawn. The price money is refunded after cutting down some cancellation charges. The cancellation should also be done within some time frame as offered by the facility.
